Upcoming SoCal Point Series Events:

January:

Ice Bowl in Paradise (C-tier), Chavez Ridge DGC, Los Angeles - Sat., Jan. 21, 2012 -  Ice Bowl tournaments are held all across the U.S. in January and February, raising funds and awareness for local food banks and other social service charities.   The Chavez Ice Bowl has kicked off the SoCal Points Series for the last several years and is also part of the Golden Sombrero Series of Ice Bowls.  TD – Steve Valencia (mailto:839574@gmail.com, 323-420-7535)  Registration flyer here.  See registration list here.  Online registration available at this link. February:

Wintertime Open (Am weekend, B-tier), Oak Grove DGC, La Canada – Sat/Sun Feb. 11-12, 2012.  The Wintertime Open is the longest-running disc golf tournament in Southern California and probably the west coast.  A great chance to play Oak Grove in its tournament set-up.  TD – Mark Horn (mhornddc@charter.net,626-798-8729)  Registration flyer here.  See registration list here. March:

One Night Stand @ Verdugo Hills (C-tier), Verdugo Hills Golf Course, Tujunga - Sat, March 10, 2012.  Verdugo Hills is another older golf course which has added baskets to become a ball golf/disc golf course.  This is a one-day, two-round PDGA Pro/Am event, with both rounds played at night (5:30pm start).  Field limited to 72 players.  All Am players will receive a tournament-stamped Legacy Disc.  Trophies, CTP, and prize raffle.  TD - Gary Sandoval (mailto:gsl4778@msn.com, 818-669-0769), Registration flyer here.  See registration list here.  Online registration available at this link.  RESULTS HERE.

April:

Sylmar Open (C-tier), Veterans Park, Sylmar – Sun April 1, 2012.  The Sylmar Open is the another long-running disc golf tournament, played on one of the highest-rated courses in SoCal.  The Sylmar crew is also well-respected for providing a great prize payout. TD – Gary Sandoval (mailto:gsl4778@msn.com, phone number) Registration flyer available here.  Registration list available here.  Online registration available here.

San Diego Fling (Ams-only, B-tier), Morley Field, San Diego - Sat April 14, 2012.  Morley Field is the most-played disc golf course in the world and home to many fine players. May:

June:

Cannonball Run (C-tier), Multiple courses - Sat June 9, 2012.  This tourney is named after the cross-country car race featured in the 1984 Burt Reynolds movie by the same name.  Last year’s inaugural Cannonball had players play rounds at Sylmar, Conejo and Wrightwood in one day (one of the longest days of the year).  Sounds like fun! TD – Gary Sandoval (mailto:gsl4778@msn.com, phone number) Registration flyer here.  Registration list available here.  Online registration here.

August:

Sky High Showdown (C-tier), Mountain High North DGC, Wrightwood - Sat/Sun Aug. 11-12, 2012.  27 holes of high-altitude, tree covered sweetness.  Whether it’s the great course, the light-headedness from lack of oxygen, the fun time camping next to the course, or the perennially deep payout, everyone seems to love the Wrightwood tourneys.  Find out for yourself.  TD - Suzette Simons (mailto: discette@chartermi.net, phone number) Registration flyer here not yet available.  Registration list not yet available.  Online registration not yet available.

Sun Valley Open (B-tier), Sun Valley Golf Course, La Mesa - Sat/Sun Aug. 25-26, 2012.  In its four years of existence, the Sun Valley Open has consistently provided participants with a challenging and entertaining way to spend a late summer weekend.  TD David Parnell works all year long to put together a top-notch payout with great sponsors.  The 18-hole “SVO” layout is technical and challenging, and contains more than its share of perilous pin positions.  Wrap the weekend up with the traditional skins/doubles playoff, and you have a winner!  TD - David Parnell (mailto:sunvalleyopen@yahoo.com, phone number) Registration flyer here not yet available.  Registration list not yet available.  Online registration not yet available.

September:

October:
